During your Appointment
The EMG Lab is also a teaching lab. Under the leadership of attending neurologists; residents, fellows, and medical students may take history and perform neurological examination. Student technologists may perform nerve conduction studies under the guidance of a registered technologist.‍
After checking in with the clerical staff, you will be brought to a lab room for nerve conduction studies by an EMG technologist. A neurologist will then take your history and perform a neurological exam. Needle electromyography may be performed if needed. Patients will be provided with verbal explanation of the results and diagnosis by the neurologist. The appointment will take about an hour, but this may vary.
3.
After your Appointment
A full dictated consult can be obtained from the referring physician and/or your family physician.
