Next Steps

Summary

At the end of the initial clinic appointment, there are several possible outcomes:

a. Some people do not need surgery or are not candidates for nerve surgery. Other management strategies such as exercise, stretching, pain control etc.ect may be recommended
b. Some people require an additional clinic appointment for a re-assessment to determine if surgery will be recommended.
c. Some people are appropriate for surgery, but need some time to think it over..
d. Some people are ready to sign consent forms for surgery right away.

It is important to remember that for most people, if you are offered nerve transfer surgery, the surgery often needs to happen within 6-9 months of your injury date.
